Baseball Divisions and Age Chart

Cal Ripken Baseball Division - Ages 4-12

Keeping baseball FUN, especially in the early stages of youth baseball, is a primary concern of Babe Ruth League's Cal Ripken Division, which is comprised of the following divisions:

Tee-Ball

Ages 4-5

Born 5/1/2014 - 8/31/2016

Field: Koolidge

• Safety Baseballs used (Softer than a regular baseball)

• Ball Players learn hitting and fielding fundamentals in a supportive team environment

• Spring season opens in our indoor batting cages in March, before moving outdoors in Mid-April

• A tee will be used for all at bats

• There are no outs, and players advance 1 base at a time.

• Fielders are broken into 2 groups, 1 group will play the infield, the second group will have coach lead

   instruction in the outfield.

• Teams will play 1 game on a weekday and 1 game on a Saturday during the season.

  

Coach Pitch

Ages 6-8 (5s have parent option to play up)

Born 5/1/2011 – 4/30/2014

Field: Koolidge

• Real baseballs are used

• Pitching machine is used, tee is used as necessary.

• Focus on fundamentals of catching, throwing and hitting, as well as introductions to fielding and base running.

• This level incorporates 3 outs per inning, advancement beyond first base

• Spring season opens in our indoor batting cages in Mid-February before moving outdoors in early April.

• Teams will play 1 game on a weekday and 1 game on a Saturday during the season.

 

A Division 46/60

Ages 8-10 (7s have the option to TRYOUT. Selection based on Draft.)

Born 5/1/2009 – 4/30/2012

Field: Arif "Wilson"

• All innings are a mix of machine pitch and kid pitch

• All 8, 9 and 10 Year olds will play at the A Division Level

• Pitching Distance is 46 feet

• Bases are 60 feet.

• Players build and refine their fundamental skills while beginning to understand game strategy andteamwork.

• Stealing is allowed after the ball passes the batter.

• Spring season opens in our indoor batting cages in Mid-February before moving outdoors in Early April.

• Teams will practice 1x per week and play in 1 weekday and 1 Saturday game on most weeks.

• All Star teams formed for each age group to compete on the tournament trail from Districts through to the 10 year old World Series.

 

50/70 Majors Division

Ages 10-12 (9s have the option to TRYOUT. Selection based on Draft.)

Born 5/1/2007 – 4/30/2010

Field: Sports Care "Caruso"

• All 11 and 12 year olds will play 50/70 Majors

• 10 Years olds are welcome to be evaluated to be considered to play at the Major Level

• League discretion will be based on the number of players and teams formed as well as the child’s ability.

• Pitching Distance is 50 feet & Bases are 70 feet.

• Players are allowed to lead and steel bases just like they see on TV.

• Spring season opens in our indoor batting cages in Mid- February before moving outdoors in early April

• Teams will practice 1x per week and play in 1 weekday game and 1 Saturday game on most weeks.

• All Star teams are formed for each age group to compete on the tournament trail from Districts through to the 12 year old World Series in Branson MO which features 8 International Champions.

 

Babe Ruth Baseball - Ages 13-15

Founded in 1951, Babe Ruth Baseball League was created for ballplayers ages 13-15 who wished to continue their baseball playing experience beyond the age of 12. This is where players get their baseball cleats muddy for the first time on standard 90' diamonds under Official Baseball Rules used by Major League Baseball.

 

Senior League

Ages 13-15

Born 5/1/2004 – 4/30/2007

Field: Galik

• All 13 14 and 15 year olds will play Senior League.

• Pitching Distance is 60 feet & Bases are 90 feet.

• Spring season opens in our indoor batting cages in Mid- February before moving outdoors in early April

• Teams will practice 1x per week and play in 1 weekday game and 1 Saturday game on most weeks.

• All Star teams are formed for each age group to compete on the tournament trail from Districts through to the World Series.

All player ages are determined by the birth chart shown above. May 1 in any year shall be the deciding date.

Season of 2019:

Cal Ripken – Any player born prior to May 1, 2016 and on or after May 1, 2007 will be eligible for Cal Ripken Baseball League competition.
Any player that turns 4-years-old in the months of May, June, July and August of 2016 is eligible to participate in the Cal Ripken T-Ball Division

13-15 – Any player born prior to May 1, 2007 and on or after May 1, 2004 will be eligible for Babe Ruth 13-15 League competition.
